– North Cairo Criminal Court, convened at the Fifth Settlement, adjourned the seizure of funds lodged by the Public Prosecution against former ambassador Masoum Marzouk, university professors Yehia al-Qazzaz and Raed Salama, along with four others, for the September 26 hearing for review. The aforementioned are charged with aiding a terrorist organization in the achievement of its aims and receiving funding for the purpose of terrorism.
– Minya Criminal Court, convened at the Police Cadets Institute in Tora, handed down its verdicts to 781 defendants in the “El-Edwa violence incidents” case. The verdicts range from death sentences by hanging to life imprisonment, 15-year rigorous imprisonment, 10-year rigorous imprisonment, two-year imprisonment, 3-year imprisonment, 5-year rigorous imprisonment and 7-year imprisonment. The court, on the other hand, acquitted 463 defendants of all charges attributed to them.
– The court also ordered the denial of criminal liability for a mentally ill defendant in the case, the termination of criminal proceedings against six others due to their death, and the referral of four defendants back to the Prosecution; since the court has no jurisdiction to try them.
– Cairo Criminal Court, convened at the Fifth Settlement, adjourned the trial of Suad al-Kholy, former deputy governor of Alexandria, and six others in the case in which they are accused of committing crimes of requesting and receiving financial bribes to make a public official perform one of his duties as well as breach of duties, and rigging a communiqué, for the October 28 hearing, for the Prosecution pleading.
– Cairo Criminal Court, convened at the Police Cadets in Tora, adjourned the retrial procedures of 120 defendants in the “Third Anniversary of the Revolution” case, over the 10-year ruling handed down in absentia to them, for the 14 October hearing, to proceed with the defense’s pleading.
– Tokh Prosecution ordered the release of rioters in the village of Salhiya on bail of 5000 EGP each, for attacking security forces while carrying out one of the demolition campaigns to retrieve state property, resulting in the damage of three cars and the injury of 5 police personnel.
– The Supreme State Security Prosecution ordered the detention renewal of Yousef Ahmed, Ahmed Abdul Rahman and Abeer Al-Safti for 15 pending investigations in the “Metro Case” No. 718 of 2018 State Security, and the continuation of the precautionary measures against Asmaa Abdel-Hamid .
