Issued decisions
– The Military East Cairo Criminal Court, convened at Tora Court Complex, adjourned the trial of 271 defendants in Case No. 123 of 2018, known in the media as “Hasm & Lewaa El-Thawra II” and registered under No. 420 of 2017 and No. 1074 of 2017. The case was postponed for the hearing of September 28, 2020 to proceed with the pleadings.
– Al-Nozha Misdemeanor Court adjourned the trial of Counselor Noha Al-Imam, who is known as “the lady of the court” and accused of assaulting a police officer inside Heliopolis Court, for the hearing of September 30, 2020 to check the case’s papers.
– North Cairo Criminal Court convened at Abbassyia sentenced the general manager of an import and export company along with an employee at Pepsi Co. to 8 years in high-security prison on charges of forgery and seizing 30 million EGP from a bank.
– The Court of Cassation ruled, in its second session, to modify the Zagazig Criminal Court’s ruling issued on July 24, 2017 sentencing Abd al-Badia Ibrahim Abd al-Badia to 5 years in prison rather than high-security prison. The court, on the other hand, upheld the 2-year-hard- labor prison sentenced issued against the following defendants: Hisham Ibrahim Mohamed, Ahmed Mohamed Ali, Mahmoud al-Sayyid al-Ghazawi and Abdel-Wahab Ahmed Abd al-Wahhab. The court also sentenced Al-Sayed Al-Sayed Abdel-Rahman and Ahmed Mohamed Mohsen Abdel-Hamid to one year in prison with force and labor, and rejected the Prosecution’s appeal modifying the sentences handed down against the convicted persons and putting them under police surveillance for a period equal to the term of the sentence imposed on each of them over gathering charges.
– The Court of Cassation modified the prison sentence (ranging from 3 to 6 months) issued against 11 defendants rejecting their appeal into the case known in the media as “the arson of Ismailia Police Station”.
