She was arrested from a café at Dokki district, accompanied by her husband and others, on 26 November 2019, before she was taken to Dokki Police Station. The following day, on 27 November 2019, she was interrogated by the Supreme State Security Prosecution pending Case No. 488 of 2019 State Security, on charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news and statements. The journalist has been held on detention. On 30 August 2020, the Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated the journalist into the Case No. 855 of 2020 State Security and accused her of: joining a terrorist group, committing one of financing crimes, and spreading false news and information from inside her jail. The Prosecution then decided to hold her in remand detention after the end of her detention period in the Case No. 488 of 2019.
