Issued decisions:
– Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanors Court decided, yesterday evening, to accept in form the appeal submitted by “Abla Fahita” TV show correspondent Shady Abou Zeid against his 6-month imprisonment sentence, and in substance, to reject the appeal upholding the issued ruling in the case publicly known as “insulting police officers”.
– The Court of Cassation upheld the death sentence issued against 9 defendants in the “Attorney General’s assassination” case, while it changed the verdict handed down to 6 defendants from death sentence to life imprisonment. The court also changed the verdict handed down to 4 other defendants from life imprisonment to 15-year high-security prison and to one defendant from life imprisonment to three years in high-security prison, and to another accused from life imprisonment to one-year prison sentence. And on the other hand, the court ordered the acquittal of 6 defendants involved in the same case.
– The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Moaz al-Sharkawy for 15 days pending case No. 440 of 2018 State Security.
– Cairo Criminal Court adjourned the retrial procedures of 120 defendants in the case publicly known as “The oppressed of Abdeen” for the December 10 hearing.
– Cairo Criminal Court sentenced 8 defendants to 5 years in high-security prison and 5 others to one year in prison in the case publicly known as “Azhar University incidents”.
– Cairo Criminal Court adjourned the trial of 32 defendants in “Helwan Microbus Cell” case for the December 9 hearing.
– Cairo Criminal Court adjourned the retrial procedures of 24 defendants in the case known as “Spying with Hamas” for the December 23 hearing.
– The Court of Appeal decided to postpone the request submitted by the defense team in the “Tambourines march” case demanding to disqualify the judges to the hearing set to be held on 29 January.
– Al-Minya Criminal Court adjourned the trial of 20 lawyers in the case known as “Insulting the judiciary” for the January 2 hearing.
– Al-Maadi Appellant Court set the hearing of 30 December to pronounce the verdict in the appeal submitted by activist Amal Fathy challenging the decision to imprison her for two years in the case publicly known as “offending public decency”.
